Welcome to Mental Wealth Fund
Mental Wealth Fund is a scholarship foundation that supports underprivileged youth under 18 who are committed to alleviating mental health issues in their communities. Our mission is to promote mental wellness and break the stigma surrounding mental health by fostering the power of community, mindfulness, and advocacy. We believe that young people are powerful agents of change. By providing financial support through scholarships, we empower youth to pursue projects, initiatives, and practices that promote well-being and resilience in their schools, families, and neighborhoods. Whether through advocacy campaigns, peer-support networks, creative projects, or educational efforts, our recipients embody leadership rooted in empathy and action.
Why We Focus on Youth
Facing
Barriers
We focus on Indigenous and underprivileged youth because they are often the ones most impacted by mental health inequities, yet the least likely to have access to the support they need. Many face barriers such as limited community resources, financial hardship, and systemic discrimination, which can make it harder to seek care or feel heard. At the same time, these young people carry powerful voices, resilience, and lived experiences that can inspire meaningful change. By investing in their leadership, we aim to create space for them to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and develop initiatives that strengthen mental wellness in their communities.

How is Mental Health Affecting Our Youth Today?
Mental health is a topic of growing concern, with recent data highlighting its severity. According to Statistics Canada, "Among youth who rated their mental health as 'good,' 'very good,' or 'excellent' in 2019, about one in five (21%) reported a decline to 'fair' or 'poor' by 2023."

This decline is mirrored on an international level as"Globally, one in seven 10-19-year-olds experiences a mental disorder, accounting for 15% of the global burden of disease in this age group."

Additionally, the Canadian Health Survey on Children and Youth (CHSCY) indicated that 16% of parents who reported their child as often or always looking forward to school in 2019 observed the opposite four years later when their child was aged 7 to 11, suggesting a decline in school-related enthusiasm among younger children.
